My Last Year of College

Hey my loves,

In today’s blog post I am going to touch on some things I felt while entering the last final year of College being a bachelor degree student. While I have been studying for a lot longer than the usual student, I have quite a lot of mixed feel considering my last year.

But first, let me get started with the beginning of my college journey.

my last year of college.jpeg

In October 2013 I’ve started college, I had English as my mayor and History as a minor. I quickly realized that History wasn’t for me, so I switch to Linguistics. After failing miserably for three consecutive semesters, always with the hope of getting better, I decided to switch one last time. I applied for German as my mayor at my College and I got in.

Since October 2015 I am studying German as my major and English as my minor and that has been one of the best decision I have made in my college experience. Not only was I finally able to just do the courses I was good in, but I also got motivated again to go to College and actually attended the courses. After my first semester I fell ill, and had to dial back on College stuff so that I wasn’t able to finish in the regular time. But I think that’s okay, I believe your health is more important than that.

After I got better I decided to change my life around. To change the things that I believed made me sick as well as trying to be a happier and healthier person. I also wanted to use my motivation for school to try and find out what I eventually want to do with my degree. And in the beginning of this year, I decided that I am not willing to leave College just yet. That I enjoy it. So I decided that I want to do my master as well.

Now that my plan for after my bachelor’s degree is all set, I want to touch on what I’m feeling about my last year as a student. As a bachelor’s student – at least.

I’m feeling mixed feelings about it to be completely honest with you. While I’m excited for a new and fresh start I’m also sad, since I will probably leaving my College I am at right now, and I have built so many great friendships and memories here. But I guess with evolving you kind of have to leave some things behind. I’m also thankful, thankful for the opportunities that have arisen out of my experiences, thankful for the person I am today and much more.

This year, a lot of things changed for me. Personally and College-wise, but it only got better. I didn’t start my journey thinking I would end up being, well happy?! I never knew what I wanted, or at least I told myself that. And now, while I learn what my strengths are and I step out of my comfort zone, I realize what I can and what I want to do. All possibilities are open for me, I just have to work hard enough and realize that if I want something it won’t just fall into my lap, that I actually have to work to achieve something. And while doing so it is the greatest feeling in the world if you actually reach your goals.

My last summer was filled to the brim with work for College. I had to write three papers simultaneously as well as prepare an oral exam. While the old-me would have crumbled under the pressure and probably would have given up, I have risen above it, and even surprised myself by doing it all, with just one minor freak-out right before the submission of the last two papers (which FYI was in the same week).

The upcoming semester will be filled with a lot of courses for my minor and I can’t wait for them. I only have two papers left and a test and hopefully (fingers crossed!) I am able to register my bachelor thesis in early 2019. I also started working at my College as a student helper, and so far I’ve been really enjoying it and I feel like it is a good opportunity to gain some work experience as well as learn new things and step out of my comfort zone.

My last year of College will hopefully be filled with lots of fun, new experiences and will hopefully be as much part of my journey as the past nine months has been in my personal life. Would you like me to touch on my personal journey and my development in the past nine months? Let me know in the comments or by liking this post and I will write a blog post about it.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Moving Out – My Experience and Tips!

Hey my loves,

Fall is a season of change, literally. But for a lot of young adults out there who are just graduating from school are facing so many new things. One of them might be moving out of their parents home.

moving out1.jpeg

Moving out is scary. Trust me, I know.

But it is also one of the coolest things ever and will be something that you’ll remember, because it is such a big change in your life.

I moved out exactly two years ago and while in the beginning I might have been a little homesick, I quickly started to love living on my own. I love the freedom that comes with it, which is also one of the parts that make it the hardest. I guess, there’s a price for everything (like, you have to pay for everything, stuff you didn’t even thought about).

I’m living in my hometown and commute to work and college. It’s just way cheaper where I live than in the big city, so I gladly take the train for about two hours. I rather save money than live in a small apartment where I wouldn’t be happy, just to be closer. But everybody is different in this. I always enjoyed the quiet and landscape that comes with my home, but there are a lot of people who enjoy being closer to college and their job, which I get, especially on those days when the trains are delayed. I will move out of my hometown eventually, but for now I am enjoying the comfort of my home.

What have I learned since moving out?

Well, what haven’t I? Haha xD Just kidding, I’m learning everyday. I learned that I like a clean apartment, but that is just not always achievable. I learned that I DO NOT like washing the dishes, but a dish washer is expensive, so I have to deal with that. I learned that I love having my friends over and I love the freedom that comes with it. I don’t have to ask permission for them to come over, they just come whenever they want to. There are so many things I could list…

But most important I learned the value of self-care, appreciating what you have and that working hard for something pays off. Since I’ve moved out I tried to better myself everyday. I try to eat healthier, exercise regularly, have a schedule and be more positive and choose happiness.

Two years, in which I have grown so immensely. Two years, that have shaped me as an adult as well as a woman. If you are scared of moving out: BE IT. Because being scared or intimidated doesn’t mean that you’re weak, it means that what is coming is a big thing that will change your life and that is scary. But also, be excited. Excited for all the great things and new experiences.

My tips for you.

Move out when you’re ready. I know that sometimes that isn’t possible, but if you have the opportunity to stay home or even close to home, do it. For your own good.

Make a list. Moving out inquires a lot of planning and new things. So it is helpful to write list of what you will need to buy and need to do, like completing insurances and all that.

Save up money. Moving is expensive, and moving out of your parents house is even more expensive, because you will have to buy a lot of stuff. Always plan in a little more money than you think you will need, just to be safe. And also write down two lists: one for the necessities that you’ll need and one for things you want to have. And tick of all the things you actually need first.

Do not stress. It won’t be a smooth ride. In the first few weeks it will be hard to find your routine. It will get tricky if something has to get done and you have to deal with it. Don’t stress about it, everyone is or was at that point in some time in their life.

Socialize, but also take time for yourself. Moving out is one thing, but moving out from your parents to life on your own is such a different world. So socialize, with friends, your family or just take up a new hobby. Make sure that you’ll take on something that keeps you busy. But also take time for yourself. Self care is so important, especially when you have to deal with a lot of new things.

I hope I could give you a good inside to what moving out is like. If you have any questions or would like me to touch on a topic in more detail let me know in the comments or DM on Twitter or Instagram.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Where I have been + Update

Hey my loves,

long time since I last blogged, I know! I am so sorry for that.

1 nutzen.JPG

I was writing three papers and was preparing for an important oral exam, so I literally did not had the time to do anything else. But I’m all done now and will try to get back to blogging. And I can’t wait to get back, even though I will be quite busy after next week, but I will try my best to upload. There will be some changes though.

I won’t be able to write two or three blog posts a week with good and strong content, even though I wish I had the time, but I rather focus on one good one once a week. I’m going into my last year of college and I have a jam-packed term ahead of me and I started a new job this week, which also keeps me quite busy. But I will try to post on Sundays at 1 pm (CET).

Another change will be that I will be posting more college related blog post, I just feel like you guys really enjoy this content and since I will be done next summer with my bachelor’s degree, I figured, if not now, when?! There will be coming some very interesting entries. But feel free to drop me any suggestions in the comment section as well as on Twitter or Instagram.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

How to stay organized when you have a lot to do – College Edition

Hey my loves,

as you might know I am a student and currently I have been busy with multiple papers, presentations and participation proof things that I thought I would share some of my techniques with you.

blog entry about staying organized.JPG

I always keep a planner on hand so that I can take notes and write down any important submission dates and also to just keep everything nice and organized at one place. I use a weekly spread, where I write down any appointments and according to the days any to-do’s. I also use a pencil for potential things that I am either unsure of if they need to be done or if it’s happening on that day that way I can easily remove and transfer them.

Another thing I am doing is putting all my appointments, submission dates, to-do’s and even home shores in my calendar app on my phone. I even went as far as color coding them. For instance, purple marked things are regarding everything I have to do for College, yellow marked ones are my to-do’s and so on.

I also use the reminder app on my phone to give me daily reminders of things that need to be done that specific day or in the near future and it keeps all my to-do’s in one place.

Another thing I like to do is to use a site in my planner or from a notebook and regarding to the course write down all the things I have to do and if possible date them accordingly. It’s also super satisfying to tick of a to-do on that.

I know this might seem like a lot of double work, but this is for my personal lifestyle. I might not have my planner on me one day so I have it on my phone. If something happens to my phone, I’ll always have it in my bullet journal. I just like to be safe.

What are your organizational techniques? I would love to know. Also, if you are interested in something like this for my blog I am more than happy to share that with you too.

April 2018 Favorites

Hey my loves,

in today’s entry I am going to talk about my favorites in April. Uni started on the 9th and since then I have been super busy and in full work mode, but I still like to take some time out to write a couple of entries for May, since I still love blogging so much and want to upkeep my blogging schedule.

What were your favorite entries so far? I would love to know.

Now onto, my favorites this month. I have quite a mix of things. So here they are:

1.JPG

As you can see, there is quite a lot of highlighters going on and not the fun kind – well kinda the fun kind, I mean, they ARE pastel colored highlighters.

My ‘planner’ and the ‘Stabilo Boss Pastel Highlighters‘ have been my planning heaven this month. I am currently figuring out everything I have to do for the individual courses and also what and particularly when I have to do research and so on for my final papers. But I also use the highlighters for texts I read, not just for planning. My planner is a Bullet Journal, in some time I will write about my experience, but not just yet.

Another highlight from April for me was and still is my new ‘phone case’. I am in love with it, I love the feeling, the color, it’s just so cute. I also love my new phone – lol, it’s an iPhone X for those of you who were wondering. What I especially love about this case is that it’s easy to clean and the microfiber lining. I feel like it still looks cute but also gives my phone the protection it needs.

As for my beauty related favorites I only have a couple of things. To be honest with you, I haven’t been wearing much makeup, just the basics to look semi-presentable, other things just have been more important. First up, is the ‘Trend it up – Nail Polish’ in this beautiful lilac color. If you ever are in Germany go to the closest DM and buy it, it’s super affordable (under 2€) and it lasts all freaking week, literally. I showered, I did dishes, I did everything with them and they didn’t split, crack or lost any color or anything. It looked perfect the entire week.

Another favorite of mine is the ‘L’Oréal Paris – Brow Artist Xpert‘. As you might know, I have been looking for a good brow pen and I think I have found it. It’s super easy to apply, blend and it can look natural or dramatic and I love that it comes with a brush, makes it so much easier.

Since being out all day and hence wearing make up all day I have been looking for the perfect under-eye setting powder, and I dare decided to try the ‘Maybelline – Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder‘ and I was shook. It feels super smooth and lightweight and it lasts ALL DAY. It’s perfect and it was especially great during the heat wave we had. And since I am out all day I also like to not think about reapplying my lipstick, which is why my ‘Maybelline – Superstay 24h Lipstick‘ in Rose Dust has been my go-to one for the entire month of may. It stays on the entire day! I love it!

What were your favorites in April? Tell me in the comments.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Spring Cleaning – What I Did & Why

Hey my loves,

it’s finally Spring, you have no idea how long I’ve been excited for warmer weather. Normally, I love fall and winter, but I do not know, lately all I could think about was spring and summer. And as I am writing this I am looking out of a window and it’s a beautiful sunny and slightly warm day.

Now as many of you might know, I’m a student and we do get some free time after our terms are done, but this spring break I had to finish a term paper and also start a new one, which led to the fact that I haven’t been doing anything else. But as of a couple of days ago I’m done and finished, which leaves me with exactly a week to spare and enjoy before Uni starts again.

And let me tell you, there has been so much left undone and just been left laying around that even I (not the neatest person) found that I had to do a huge spring clean. I just felt like I had so much clutter in my life and that I could start by cleaning and organizing my apartment.

I started in late February, early March by adding a new shelf into my kitchen to organize that mess. I still need some bits, but for now what I have is alright. Then, after I finished all my assignments for Uni, I decided to tackle my bedroom.

I took half a day, and cleaned out my closets, which exists of three IKEA clothes rack and a big MALM chest of drawers. I threw out old clothes that I would not wear anymore, kind of color coordinated the racks and also coordinate them after seasons. And then I went ahead and organized my chest of drawers, which let me tell you, looking through all your sock is a pain in the a**. But I did, I hovered and dust cleaned, and now my bedroom is looking so good again.

Lastly, I organized my desk. After each term, I organize my papers and all the books I’ve read for Uni, and since I’m doing my makeup on there as well, I switch out my old daily makeup with my new one and I also give it a good clean. This just helps me with feeling prepared and organized for the new term and also gives me a lot of room on my desk again.

After I had everything finished I felt so much lighter in my head and my spirit felt lifted, because I had accomplished a lot in a couple of days. I can highly recommend to do a spring cleaning.

Do you spring clean? What else do you do? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know and chat about different perspectives.

I wish you all a wonderful day!
