How To Get The Most Out Of Your Day

in today’s entry I am going to tell you about how you can get the most of your day and accomplish all your to-do’s even if there are so much to-do that you think you will not be able to do them all in one day.

I always get “how did you do all that?” and the answer is always the same… I did it with structure and planning. Fact is, if you are a girl boss, if you have a lot to do and do not know where to begin or even how to begin, you gotta find a way for yourself to find time and that is only possible if you plan it out, carefully and strategically.

I always start with a general to-do list to see what has to be done in the month, that includes everything I have to do with work, home and other things that concern my work and personal life. With work it’s usually looking at the different events and deciding which one’s I attend and which one’s I won’t attend and then I already know the days where I’ll have to do more. With personal to-do’s this list is pretty much on going and I do not push myself to finish them unless they have a deadline too.

But I am not only working and living my life, I also am a college student and a blogger, so that has to be planned out as well. For college I pretty much do weekly to-do list, where I include each individual course and the thing that have to be done by next week. Currently I am also preparing for an exam as well as my bachelor thesis, so I put down the weekly to-do’s for that as well. Another thing I do is to start with college work before I do anything else. The work I have to do for college is usually the most time-consuming, so I like to get that out-of-the-way as fast as possible. Also if I finish early it gives me either time to do something with my friends or to preparatory work for college, which is always great especially for those weeks where the to-do’s a long.

When it comes to my blog, I usually brain storm mid-month for the next so that I have at least 4 to 6 solid ideas I can write about. Then I usually write them all on one or two days. That is not only time-saving, but it also allows me to not worry about that. My goal at the moment is one blog entry per week, ultimately I would like to produce more content, but with everything else I have to do that is just not possible as of right now. It took me some time to realize that I cannot do it all well unless I limit things. You have to find the right balance. You do not want to overwork yourself, but you also want to show some effort in the work you do! It’s tricky, but manageable.

All in all I like to keep several to-do list, because I like to tick off things as well as be so organized. Besides handwritten to-do-list in my bullet journal for each month, I also write out on a sticky note the to-do’s for college and attach them to the week they have to be done in. As for extra work such as reading diaries or essays, I like to use my phone to set a reminder when I have to finish those. I also use my phone calendar to write down the names of the courses or other to-do’s which have to be done. That way, when I don’t have my bullet journal on hand, I know what I have to do even on the go.

That’s what I do to plan out my day. As for how I manage to get it all done is actually very simple. Getting up early and getting enough sleep is the key. Under the week I like to go to bed no later than 10 pm and that is simply because I like to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night and I usually have to get up very early. On the weekends, I got to bed whenever I’m tired and let my body wake me up naturally, which after a lot of hard work, is usually about 6 to 8 hours, however much sleep my body needs. That way you have a lot more hours of the day and I can, most of the time, manage to finish quite early to watch one or two episodes of my favorite tv shows. When it comes to days that I want to spend with friends I like to at least try to get an hour or two of college work or household work in, before I meet them. I just find that I do not feel as lazy if I do that.

How to Set Yourself Up For a Productive Week

In today’s blog post I am going to share with you some of my tips with you on how to set yourself up for a productive week.

Make a list

Making to-do list is of one the biggest tips I can give you. Writing down everything you need to do in a day, or in the week is super helpful, especially because you can add things along the way and tip-off anything when you’re finished with it.

I do have two systems for my to-do list: For university I actually like to write them down in my diary and sort them for the individual courses I have and I also sort them after priority. I also write down when they have to be finished. This is particular helpful when you have to migrate some of your to-do’s.

For my apartment and life to-do’s I usually just write down my list on my phone in theĀ notesĀ app. Only if they are small things I have to do I write them down on my monthly to-do spread in my Bullet Journal.

Start Small & Prioritize

Don’t overpower on the to-do’s, start with a small list. You can add more things to do later on. And if you can’t start small, choose the priority for each task you have to do and write them down in that order.

Also: Don’t put yourself down if you can’t finish all of your to-do’s, if you use my priority system, you will get things down that have to be finished. I usually have like 3-4 priority categories. Priority 4 has to be done immediately on that day, Priority 3 has to be done on that day, but can be migrated to another day, if necessary, Priority 2 are things like doing the washing or cleaning, things you can do in between other chores. I for myself always have a wash of clothing running when I study for Uni, so that I remember to get up in between and move a little bit. And last but not least, Priority 1 are to-do’s that have to get done in this week, but can migrate, if necessary, to the next week.

Find a calm spot to work

We are all different especially when it comes to places to work, I for myself prefer to work at a desk, with a lot of natural light and a lot of space, because I usually have a lot of extra material besides my MacBook. I also love to have music in the background, although it has to be music, that I won’t sing to (which happens a lot, even if I pick songs I don’t hear that often). I sometimes even listen to instrumental Soundtracks or piano songs. Would you guys be interested in a playlist? Let me know in the comments.

Find your spot, where you aren’t distracted and can work concentrated, but also stay motivated. I also love to make myself a tea and have some snacks on hand – like fruit, veggies and if I feel like it, sometimes even a little bit of chocolate or cookies. It helps me to keep going.

Take breaks

I for myself, like to take 10 to 15 minutes in between chores to recharge and move a little bit. Especially when I’ve been working at my desk, I like to get up a bit and stretch or just walk around a little bit – and to be fair, quite often, I do have a longer break where I watch a 20-minute episode of something or a dance session. You have to find out what works for you, I know some people, if they start watching something, they start to procrastinate. I would lie, if id said that didn’t happen to me, but sometimes, we all have motivational problems.
