How to achieve your goals in the New Year

In today’s blog post I am going to talk about how you can achieve your New Years goals and what I like to do to make sure I reach mine. If you want to know my goals for 2020 check out my blog post where I talk about them.

Here are my five rules that will set you up for success:

Envision your goals clearly.

Before you get started make sure you know what each goal you have entails. Envision it clearly and write it down. This will make it easier in the long run to see what you have to do in the early stages of your goals.

Limit your goals.

Set no more than three to five goals to achieve in a year. Sometimes we underestimate the work that has to go into our goals. So it’s better to have fewer goals than you would think you want to have. If you have achieved all of your goals you can always add more throughout the year. Also, sometimes goals can build on each other. For example, one of my goals is to eat more vegetarian meal throughout the week, another step could be to go completely vegan.

Reason.

Make sure you know why you set your goals. It is much more likely that you achieve your goals if you have emotion and will behind it. You need to make sure you really want to reach your goals and you have to make sure you doing it for you not for anyone else.

Make it a habit.

Identify what you have to do and slowly make it into a habit so that it is not much of a task but rather something you do everyday. I have read somewhere that it takes 21 days to make something a habit, so don’t put yourself down when it doesn’t work right away.

Progress Check-Up.

Check in on your progress once in a while. This will immensely help you actually achieve your goals. You can always change it around a little. Sometimes what we do to achieve our goals need a little adjusting, checking in once in a while makes sure we stay on the right track.
