Berlin – A Short Weekend Away

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I am sharing some of my favorite spots me and Miri discovered on our short weekend in Berlin.

We arrived on late afternoon on Friday, so we basically did not do anything that day. So we ordered some pizza, which was NOT great, sadly, and just went to a local super market to grab some things for the upcoming day. On Saturday we basically hit up everything we wanted to see. We walked SOOOOO much, I think I almost hit like 20000 steps or something. All I remember is that we were absolutely smashed that night. But it was worth it and I had so much fun.

We first went to the Holocaust Memorial, which I took photos off, but out of respect for everyone who was involved and affected by it will never share with the internet. It was quite emotional to see it and just to feel a part of history. I would highly recommend going there and just taking it all in.

We basically walked from there to the Brandenburg Gate, which is really impressive and cool to see our most known landmark in person. From there on we walked to the government district. I should mention that we didn’t actually went into anything since we did not really want to spent any money and some of the lines were really long. We then just had a quick look at the Reichstag building and the Bundestag.

We then took what felt like the longest walk ever from the Brandenburg gate to the Siegessäule and I just googled it that alone was a walk of almost 5 km. After that we took the bus and the trains to get to the Upper East Side area of Berlin.

We had some food and rested for a little while before we explored the Humboldt university, the opera and the Berlin Dome. The Berlin Dome was one of my highlights, it was definitely the most beautiful and impressive building and landmark I have seen in all of Berlin. It is so huge, you really feel small beside it. For height comparison you should check out my insta.

Last but not least we went to the East Side Gallery where parts of the Berlin wall are still standing. For more pictures you should definitely check out my Instagram.

Have you ever been to Berlin? What were your favorite sightseeing spots? Let me know in the comments, I would love to know.

I wish you all a wonderful day.

Spending Quality Time With My Family & Myself

Hey my loves,

this past week I have been on holiday with my family in the south of Germany. And boy, oh boy, was I in need of a vacation. After writing three papers and preparing an oral exam in just under six week I was mentally exhausted. We spend six days with my family and basically did nothing but relax and we had an absolute luck with the weather – almost 30 degrees.

Like I said, we didn’t do much, but I took the time to go on a walk by myself just to reflect on the past nine months as well as to get some me-time in. I love the nature here in south-Germany and just took it all in. Spending time with yourself is so important, at least that’s what I learned. But as I am writing this, I can’t wait to get back into things back home.

The little towns around here are just so beautiful and colorful and especially with the amazing blue sky it looked stunning. I just love it here, although I like the quiet and the little towns, I could actually never live here, you literally have to drive everywhere and there is almost no public transportation in the smaller villages. Therefore it’s a perfect vacation spot!

The last two weeks of September will be filled with some amazing things, but also will be quite exhausting, so to spend a little quality time with my family was definitely a big must. As well as for my own well being. I came to some realizations and also had a few ideas for my bachelor thesis, which I will probably be start writing in the early months of 2019.

I wish you all a wonderful day!
