How to avoid Christmas Blues

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I am going to talk about how avoid Christmas blues or specifically how I try to avoid it. I feel like Christmas time is such a busy period that you sometimes forget to take care of yourself. I do that a lot even when it is not Christmas, so I always need to remind myself of that.

Take care of yourself

Take time out of your busy schedule even if it is only 30 minutes, but those 30 minutes will make a difference. I like to take this time to take care of my skin or listen to a podcast, but I usually do both. What I also like to do is baking, it is so soothing to me and always takes my mind of everything. Check out my favorite Christmas cookie recipe right here.

Spend quality time with the people you care about

Another thing I like to do to avoid getting the Christmas blues is to make time for my friends and spend quality time with them, which is why it is so important to me that we hold our annual Christmas Dinner. I wrote a little blog post about how to organize a Christmas Dinner Party, which you can check out here. It is so important to spend time with your friends during this time, most of my friends are like family to me, so it’s always extra special.

Watch what you eat & Exercise

Most of the time we don’t necessarily connect our food habits with our mood, but unhealthy foods can actually have a big impact on that. So one tip of mine would be to watch what you are putting into your body. I am not saying you shouldn’t indulge in all the Christmas foods, but I believe that a good balance is important. I also like to stay active during this time, whether it is a workout or just a long walk.

What do you do to avoid Christmas blues? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

What to Write in a Christmas Card

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I am going to share some of my tips and tricks on how to write and what to write in a Christmas card. I love to write Christmas cards, because I love to personalize them to the individual person.

Happy Holidays!

I always like to start with a simple “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas!”, I mean that’s why they getting a card in the first place so why not put it first.

I then proceed with personalized messages for the receiver of the card. For my friends I like to thank them for the year and maybe even reminiscence on a few inside jokes. But I do not overfill the card, no one wants to read a novel. For family I usually just tell them how much they mean to me and how much appreciate them. As for any other associates I like to keep it casual and may even write like a little Christmas saying instead.

Christmas Sayings

May the magic of Christmas fill each corner of your home & heart!

Wishing you a season of gladness, a season of cheer, and to top it all off – a wonderful year!

It wouldn’t seem like Christmas if we didn’t get in touch, and send the season’s greetings to the folks who mean so much.

May this Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year. Here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What do you write in your Christmas cards? Let me know in the comments, I would love to know.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Baking Christmas Cookies

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I am sharing with you my favorite cookie recipe I like to use for baking. Christmas is a time where I spent most of my days in the kitchen, I just love every taste of Christmas and I love Christmas baking.

This recipe is super easy and super quick to follow. I made my dough on Wednesday and wanted to make them on that day, but was not able to, so I did them today, hence why the entry today is a little bit late.

Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 2 flattened teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 package vanilla sugar, or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 g butter

Instructions

  • Melt the butter and let it cool down.
  • Preheat the oven to 175 celsius.
  • Mix flour and baking powder together.
  • Mix sugar, vanilla extract and butter together.
  • Slowly whisk in the flour until you have a smooth dough. You might need to use your hands after mixing in half of the flour to knead the dough.
  • Let the dough sit in a colder room or in the fridge for 30 minutes up to an hour, but you can also leave the dough for a couple of days in the fridge or even freeze it.
  • Roll out the dough with some extra flour and cut out the cookies.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown.

Feel free to vary the recipe, you can add some ground up nuts or decorate it after with chocolate. Do whatever you want!

I hope you enjoyed today’s entry and I wish you all a wonderful day!

How To Plan A Christmas Dinner Party

Hey my loves,

In today’s blog post I am going to talk about something I like to do every year together with my friends and that is a Christmas Dinner Party. I always host it, because Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year and I love to cook and bake for my friends and I feel like they are looking forward to it as well.

I will give you a little insight into my planning as well as a cute Pinterest board with all cute things regarding a Christmas Dinner Party.

Finding a date

The first thing you will have to do is find a date that works. The past couple of years I created a group text, but this always led to confusion and it took way longer to find a date than it was necessary. So this year, I have decided to do it a little differently. In order to find a date that would work for most of my friends I created a poll with https://doodle.com/. I’ve suggested, I believe it was two dates and then send an e-mail around inviting my friends to the poll. It was super easy this way so that I had a date by the end of the week.

Theme & Food

When everyone answered I then proceeding with writing them individual text messages with the same content: the date, time, place and asking them to bring something to the Dinner for appetizers and desserts. I also told them the theme of the party, which this year will be: AROUND THE GLOBE. We will all create different recipes from all over the world.

Now I have given myself the big part of the dinner the main course and, to be fair, in the beginning I definitely had my problems with finding the right recipe, but after some careful consideration I have decided on a few things (which will I share in a post about the Dinner later this December, because it will be a surprise to my friends). But here are some delicious recipes I have found while researching: Christmas Dinner Party – Recipes

Decoration

Now next stop on the planning to-do list are decorations. While my living room is already decorated for Christmas I am planning on created a few cute décor pieces for the various tables we will be sitting and eating at. I am going to keep it a little low key, since the Dinner part is such a huge part of this part. So I will mainly focus on creating beautiful plated foods, as well as, maybe DIY-ing some flags from all around the globe and creating some cute name pieces and menu cards. Here some of my inspirations: Christmas Dinner Party – Decor

Music

Last but not least, the music! I always create an individual Christmas playlist for the party, and here are my top 5 songs that will most definitely go onto that list this year as well.

1.      Maria Carey – All I want for Christmas is you

2.      Michael Bublé – It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

3.      Kelly Clarkson – Underneath the Tree

4.      Train – Shake up Christmas

5.      Pentatonix – God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

What are some of you favorite Christmas songs? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know. Also, be excited about the actual entry about the Christmas Dinner Party. Coming to you soon.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
