How to stay organized when you have a lot to do – College Edition

Hey my loves,

as you might know I am a student and currently I have been busy with multiple papers, presentations and participation proof things that I thought I would share some of my techniques with you.

I always keep a planner on hand so that I can take notes and write down any important submission dates and also to just keep everything nice and organized at one place. I use a weekly spread, where I write down any appointments and according to the days any to-do’s. I also use a pencil for potential things that I am either unsure of if they need to be done or if it’s happening on that day that way I can easily remove and transfer them.

Another thing I am doing is putting all my appointments, submission dates, to-do’s and even home shores in my calendar app on my phone. I even went as far as color coding them. For instance, purple marked things are regarding everything I have to do for College, yellow marked ones are my to-do’s and so on.

I also use the reminder app on my phone to give me daily reminders of things that need to be done that specific day or in the near future and it keeps all my to-do’s in one place.

Another thing I like to do is to use a site in my planner or from a notebook and regarding to the course write down all the things I have to do and if possible date them accordingly. It’s also super satisfying to tick of a to-do on that.

I know this might seem like a lot of double work, but this is for my personal lifestyle. I might not have my planner on me one day so I have it on my phone. If something happens to my phone, I’ll always have it in my bullet journal. I just like to be safe.

My Bullet Journal

Hey my loves,

in today’s entry I am going to talk about my bullet journal. I’ve been doing this for almost six months now and I decided to start a new one, because my old one got too messy and I wanted a different vibe for the inside. My bullet journal is from Cedon, I bought it on Amazon: Cedon Notebook ‘Wiedehopf’

I’ve decided to keep it somewhat minimalistic and give myself a little bit more space for my weekly spreads. I also decided to cut some pages like my Disney watch list and a couple of others and added some pages like a few pages dedicated to my blog statistics.

Now, normally a BuJo starts with an Index, but I’ve never used the one in my old one so I decided to skip it. Another change was that I decided to place the yearly overview only on one page and highlight dates that are important just to get a quick overview. Next to it I have my 2018 goals, which are quite private so I covered them up.

The next few pages are dedicated to movies that are coming out this year (or in some cases are already out) and a list of books I want to read. I barely get time to read the books that I want (student’s life – lol) so the list hasn’t been ticked off as much as I would like.

Following those pages are a list of places I want to visit and my bucket list, as you may noticed, there are two places on the bucket list that I covered up, again, they are more private so I kept them off. And this list is by far not done, I always add new things, same goes for the places I want to visit.

Alright, I always divided my year into categories of three. So I add a three-month overview and write down all the big events on that page, further more I have a page where I write down blog post ideas. The next few pages are a blog schedule, where I plan out each entry and tick them off and also an overview about my semester.

Then for each month I will have a cover page which just consist of a monthly overview and the month title. As for my weekly spreads, I decided to keep it minimalistic but with enough space. I kicked out my one-page to-do list and now am using the extra space on the page from my weeks for that. It just works better for me!

January 2018 Favorites

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I will share my January faves with you. January was a busy month for me, and February will be no different, but I do not know about you,  I love being busy! It helps me with staying motivated and I feel like my state of mind is better if I am.

Filming Videos for my channel

Creating content makes so much fun and I am planning a lot more videos, but obviously I need more time for it. But in March I will be able to film more and hopefully put out 2 videos a week, but I will keep you updated.

Blogging

Same with blogging, it’s been so enjoyable for me to write and think of new entries and I have been getting a lot more interactions on my blog, so I am assuming that you love my entries as well. So, thank you!

Meal Plan With Me

in today’s blog post I am going to share with you one of my meal plan session with you. I will tell you how I plan everything and will lead you step by step through my progress.

Scheduling of the Week

At first I will have a look at how my week will look like and maybe even plan it some more. If I’m pretty much certain how often I will be home for meals and how many meals I need I will set my weekly budget, which for the most part is around 25-30€, and on occasion sometimes a little more or less. It really depends if I need to stock up my pantry or not, but I usually have to stock it up every other month.

Looking Up Recipes

After that I will get out some of my recipe books and have a look trough them. I am doing Weight Watchers and am on a low carb, low cholesterol diet, so I always have to make sure that my meals are in my points and also, that I have at least one meal a day that is nearly carb free. Would you like some recipes? I could write a post about my favorites.

I then will write down some of the recipes that sounds good to me for the upcoming week and then I will take a look if they have somewhat similar ingredients or not. If they don’t I usually opt for ones who do. When I have a solid base of recipes, which usually are for a full week (if I’m at home for my meals) 4-5 dinners.

I should also mention that I cook in the evening, since I am not a big fan on eating a warm meal for lunch, because I tend to feel tired after eating. I also am still figuring out the right portion size for me and my lifestyle, so I tend to have less dinners, than week days, because I always have leftovers.

Writing my Shopping List

I don’t really write down the meals for an exact day, since I like to keep my options open, when I want to eat what recipe. I also don’t plan my lunches and breakfast, because in the morning I tend to eat some bread with cheese or if I got the time some oatmeal and for lunch I usually eat salads mixed with various vegetables and sometimes fruits.

When I’m done with researching recipes, I will have a look through my pantry and freezer to find out what I still have and need to buy. After finishing that I will write down everything that I have to buy for my dinners and add the groceries I need for my salads and breakfasts. I usually just snack on some veggies or fruits if I feel hungry in between my meals.

Also when I’m in Uni I swap out my lunch for a low carb sandwich or some fruit and veggies. Like I said, it’s easier for me to keep my breakfast and lunches open, since every day is not like the other.

This is pretty much all I do to meal plan, sometimes if I’m being super lazy I just choose recipes I know by heart, which aren’t many but are enough for a couple of meals. But i just like to try out all the different recipes.

How to Set Yourself Up For a Productive Week

In today’s blog post I am going to share with you some of my tips with you on how to set yourself up for a productive week.

Make a list

Making to-do list is of one the biggest tips I can give you. Writing down everything you need to do in a day, or in the week is super helpful, especially because you can add things along the way and tip-off anything when you’re finished with it.

I do have two systems for my to-do list: For university I actually like to write them down in my diary and sort them for the individual courses I have and I also sort them after priority. I also write down when they have to be finished. This is particular helpful when you have to migrate some of your to-do’s.

For my apartment and life to-do’s I usually just write down my list on my phone in the notes app. Only if they are small things I have to do I write them down on my monthly to-do spread in my Bullet Journal.

Start Small & Prioritize

Don’t overpower on the to-do’s, start with a small list. You can add more things to do later on. And if you can’t start small, choose the priority for each task you have to do and write them down in that order.

Also: Don’t put yourself down if you can’t finish all of your to-do’s, if you use my priority system, you will get things down that have to be finished. I usually have like 3-4 priority categories. Priority 4 has to be done immediately on that day, Priority 3 has to be done on that day, but can be migrated to another day, if necessary, Priority 2 are things like doing the washing or cleaning, things you can do in between other chores. I for myself always have a wash of clothing running when I study for Uni, so that I remember to get up in between and move a little bit. And last but not least, Priority 1 are to-do’s that have to get done in this week, but can migrate, if necessary, to the next week.

Find a calm spot to work

We are all different especially when it comes to places to work, I for myself prefer to work at a desk, with a lot of natural light and a lot of space, because I usually have a lot of extra material besides my MacBook. I also love to have music in the background, although it has to be music, that I won’t sing to (which happens a lot, even if I pick songs I don’t hear that often). I sometimes even listen to instrumental Soundtracks or piano songs. Would you guys be interested in a playlist? Let me know in the comments.

Find your spot, where you aren’t distracted and can work concentrated, but also stay motivated. I also love to make myself a tea and have some snacks on hand – like fruit, veggies and if I feel like it, sometimes even a little bit of chocolate or cookies. It helps me to keep going.

Take breaks

I for myself, like to take 10 to 15 minutes in between chores to recharge and move a little bit. Especially when I’ve been working at my desk, I like to get up a bit and stretch or just walk around a little bit – and to be fair, quite often, I do have a longer break where I watch a 20-minute episode of something or a dance session. You have to find out what works for you, I know some people, if they start watching something, they start to procrastinate. I would lie, if id said that didn’t happen to me, but sometimes, we all have motivational problems.
