My Lockdown Makeup Routine perfect for Zoom Calls

Hey my loves,

Zoom, WebEx, Skype and Microsoft Teams have become a big part of our everyday lives, at least that’s how it is for me. Just because of work, I’m on at least one video call a week, and when university starts up again, I’m on almost every day.

If I’m honest, I did without makeup-free at the beginning of the pandemic. However, due to some private changes in my life and the very real mask acne, I just feel a bit fresher when I make a little effort and put on makeup. My routine has changed so much, simply by wearing far less makeup than before and also using completely different it.I also try to pay so much more attention to my skincare routine as well to keep my now more dry than combination skin moisturized.

If you’d like, I can share my updated skincare routine in an upcoming post. Let me know in the comments!

My Makeup Routine for Video Calls

Base
I like to start with a primer because I find my foundation just lasts so much better and just looks better too. I like to use The Ordinary’s primers: High-Spreadability Fluid Primer and High-Adherence Silicone Primer. I find both amazing! If I need a lot of moisture, I also use the setting spray Bare with me Multitasking Spray from NYX.

Foundation
I tend to alternate between two products. However, lately I use Catrice True Skin Hydrating Foundation, it lasts really long and is very covering. I don’t know about you, but I find it kind of wasteful to use my IT Cosmetics CC Cream every day when I’m not seen in real life. Therefore, I use the drugstore foundation from Catrice. And for its price, it’s great! I can only recommend.

Concealer
My dark circles have been terrible lately, which is why I’m literally soaking up concealer right now. I really want to try the caffeine solution from The Ordinary, I’ve heard really good feedback from it. Well, so for my concealer I use either Maybelline Fit ME! Concealer or Catrice True Skin High Cover Concealer it depends a bit on how dark my circles are. My Maybelline concealer is much lighter, which is why I mostly use it with the concealer of Catrice.

Powder
For my setting powder, I still use my trusted Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder. However, I would like to go back to a drugstore variant here too because, as with foundation, it just feels wasteful to use the “good, expensive” powder. Get it?

Blush
I have a four blush palette from Nip+Fab which is great, I usually tend to go for the more muted color and apply that not only to my cheeks but also a bit to my nose. I’ve seen that once on TikTok and found that looked super cute. Tip: You should not go back into the blush but simply use what is left on the brush.

Bronzer
I must confess, most days I skip bronzer, but when I’m in the mood to bring a little warmth to my face, then I use my Benefit Hoola Bronzer. But is it really just me, or do we all need a long super sunny vacation to get a little more tanned?

Eyes and eyebrows
I usually skip eyeshadow completely, especially dark colors make you look even more tired and worn out than you actually are. I am lucky enough to have relatively full eyebrows, which is why eyebrow mascara is usually enough. I use here my fave: L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plump & Set Serum. For my lashes I am currently trying a few new mascaras, but my favorite is L’Oréal Paris Unlimited Very Different Waterproof mascara in black.

Lips
I spend a lot of time indoors at my desk and with the current season my heating runs often, which makes my skin and my lips very dry. I therefore tend to use more lip balms or lip glosses. My two favorites at the moment are: Maybelline Lifter Gloss Lip Gloss and Urban Decay Vice Lip Chemistry.

Setting Spray
To set my makeup I use Bare with me Multitasking Spray from NYX. But I also am gonna try a new one from L’Oréal Paris soon (Infaillable Magic Setting Spray Transparent). I don’t really use the setting spray for longevity but much more to freshen up and hydrate my now powdered face.

Has your routine changed since the pandemic began? Let me know in the comments.

My Spring to Summer Make-Up Look

Hey my loves,

I don’t know about you, but I am about ready for summer. It is already quite warm and sunny where I am from, but I want to actually enjoy the sun, which is not quite possibly with two Master degree’s in the making. So instead, I thought I pay homage to the sun the way I know it – with make-up.

As I am not yet tan enough for a full bronzed look I went with a nice touch of color on the eyes, subtle enough for everyday life, but spicy and summer-y enough to get me through my long to-do lists. I love doing colorful eye-looks like this as it is an easy integration of a touch of color to an otherwise boring look. I did not want to go overboard, so I chose a lipstick and lipgloss combo that would be a nice add to the rest of the make-up.

To get the tone I wanted I blended two colors – I used the two red tones in the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette, which gave me this gorgeous pink color.

As you can see I focused the colors in the inner corner and blended it out, then I added highlighter on top of it, since the shadow itself was a matte finish. I used the light-gold shadow of the palette as well as the highlight shade of the Too Faced palette. I also added a red-brown color on the top lash line, also from the same NYX shadow palette.

It may be silly to ask, but I do it anyways just out of curiosity. Do you guys have plans this summer? Let me know in the comments.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Best Beauty Buys this Winter

Hey my loves,

In todays blog post I am going to talk about the best beauty buys for this Winter. I don’t know about you, but I have to take extra care of my skin in the winter time. So, I thought it would be a really great idea to sum up my best skincare and makeup bits I love using throughout winter.

Skincare is one of the key factors for a good base of makeup. In Winter I have to take very good care of my skin, while I have a more oily to combination skin in Summer I tend to have a much drier skin in winter. Obviously eating plays a big part of my skincare, which makes it a little harder during the holiday time for me to have a clear skin, but I can manage it. Would you like to know more about this? Let me know in the comments.

Skincare Products I swear by

Exfoliate

L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Glow Foam Wash 150 ml

I exfoliate with a light scrub every other day while I am in the shower. I use the L’Oréal Paris – Pure Clay Glow Scrub Foam Wash. It super soft on the skin but gets rid of my dry skin perfectly and it is even perfectly save to use on a regular basis.

Moisturize

L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Liquid Care Moisturiser Sensitive Skin 70 ml

In the morning I only use one product, because I find that my skin gets super oily in the t-Zone area otherwise. I use the L’Oréal Paris – Hydra Genius Aloe Water Liquid Care Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin.

Clinique Dramatically Different Feuchtigkeitslotion+ 50ml Tube

However, if I do not wear any makeup that day I instead will use the Clinique – Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion +. I have recently been gifted a sample of it in an order I made and I absolutely love the feeling of it. It is perfect for those winter months because it is especially for very dry to dry combination skin.

Oily Cleanser

Clinique Take The Day Off Reinigungsbalsam (125ml)

Now, in the evening I just have to take off my makeup or else I will be cursed with pimples and flaky skin. For that I love using my Clinique – Take the day off Cleansing Balm. It get rid of most my makeup and is not drying at all. And a little goes such a long way, I have mine since the beginning of October and I barely finished half of it.

Oil

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Argan Oil 30 ml

After the rest of my skincare routine for the evening (which btw you can check out in this blog post) I like to use my oil at first. Which is The Ordinary – 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Argan Oil.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Express Hydrating Spray 200 ml

Then I will use my moisturizer, which in the evening is the Clinique one and then add a spritz or two of the Neutrogena – Hydro Boost Express Hydrating Spray. If I haven’t showered that evening I will go through the tips of my hair with the same oil. It helps to keep my ends from breaking off because of the cold temperatures.

Overnight Mask

Clinique Moisture Surge Übernacht Maske 100ml

Now, after a long day or before a long day I will use an overnight mask. This was also a new try out for me, but I have been absolutely loving it. For my overnight mask I use the Clinique – Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. I really wake up with glowing and soft skin. It’s the best skin.

Lip Balm

Now, last but not least I use a very rich lip balm. Sadly, mine, which I acquired at H&M last year is no longer available, but any will do.

What are some of your favorite winter bites for your skin care?

Makeup Products I love for Winter

Primer

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer 30 ml

I love my The Ordinary products. And I have been loving this primer throughout the year, it’s just perfect no matter how my skin is. In combination with my moisturizer it is just the perfect base for my makeup: The Ordinary – High-Adherence Silicone Primer.

Foundation and Setting Powder

Bildergebnis für it cosmetics your skin but better

I love wearing makeup and winter season is my most favorite time of the year, because I get to go all out with the makeup and no one cares. Haha, but for real though I am thriving in winter with different makeup looks. What I don’t wear in Summer I definitely pound on during late Fall and Winter.

Bildergebnis für laura mercier setting powder translucent

Recently I have been loving the IT Cosmetics – Your Skin but better CC+ Cream. It is super lightweight and in my case I would definitely say almost full coverage. It stays on beautifully during the day, but I do have to set it with my beloved Laura Mercier – Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Translucent.

What are some of your favorite makeup products for Winter?

I wish you all a wonderful day.

My Skincare Routine

Hey my loves,

it’s been a while since I’ve written about beauty. Oh, how I missed it! But I hope y’all are okay with me going down a lot of different roads with my posts. I feel like this blog is such a huge part of me that I want you to be part of a lot of stuff.

Today I am going to talk about my updated skincare routine. I have combination skin and am prone to acne which is mainly related to stress and hormones.

Evening Routine

On an everyday basis I am probably wearing makeup so the first step in my skincare in the evening is using my Clinique – Take the day off Cleansing Balm, which is truly amazing. I am always wearing waterproof mascara and nothing I have used before got rid of everything, but this one does. So happy about this! It is a little pricey, but I do have to say that one pot seems to go a long way, because you barely need any product.

I do like to double cleanse myself from makeup so after my Clinique balm I usually go in with the L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Cleansing Milk to make sure that I got rid of everything.

After that I will use my face wash which is the L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Cleansing Wash. For toner I stay within the same range and use the L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Cleansing Toner. Once or twice a week I will use a scrub to get rid off any skin. For that I like to use the L’Oréal Paris – Pure Clay Glow Foaming Wash.

After cleansing my skin thoroughly I have to put moisture back into my skin. I use a face oil every other night for that, I am still using The Ordinary – 100% Organic Moroccan Argan Oil, and I use about a couple of drops and sometimes center a few extra ones and super dry spots. As a moisturizer I am using the L’Oréal Paris – Hydra Genius Aloe Water for Dry & Sensitive Skin.

I try to keep my skincare pretty minimalistic which is why in the morning I only wash my face with hot and then with cold water and reapply moisturizer. It truly helps my skin to stay somewhat balance and healthy looking.

What are some of your favorite skincare products you can’t live without? I would love to know. I’m always down to try some new products.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

How I Cleared My Skin

Hey my loves,

Since I can remember I am struggling with skin issues. But this year my skin has become much more radiant, healthier and I also have a lot less acne or active breakouts. Even my acne scars are starting to heal a little bitIf you want to know how I cleared my skin, keep on reading, because I am about to tell you.

skincare use.jpeg

Firstly, I introduced a healthier diet into my life. I made sure to eat less processed food and also cook more with veggies and don’t eat as much of red meat and sugar. This helped with my skin enormously in the way that it cleared my skin off most of the active breakouts, since they usually appeared because of an unhealthy diet.

Then I make sure to take my makeup off EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, even if I don’t want to and am lazy, I do it. If you leave your makeup on overnight your pores will get clogged and with that breakouts are much more likely to happen especially if you have an acne prone skin, like me.

My skincare routine at night consist of the following steps:

  1. Taking my makeup off with L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream.
  2. Then take a makeup wipe to wipe the product off and get rid of any excess makeup. I prefer a makeup wipe, because I would have to use a new cloth every single evening, because I found out that even with cleaning the cloth with hot water and soap it still had some product left and that leads to me having breakouts.
  3. I then go ahead and clean my skin with the L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Gel Cream Wash.
  4. Then I just clean my skin with hot and cold water, always in an upward motion.
  5. To moisturize I use two products:The Ordinary –100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil: about 5 drops.

Another thing I introduced into my everyday life was days without makeup. I used to wear makeup even when I was just running errands, I now don’t do that anymore. Simply to give my skin a little break and to breathe. I also make sure to get at least seven hours of sleep at night, so that my body and skin has enough time to rejoice itself. Last but not least, I doubled my water intake and take b12-vitamins.

What are some of your tips and tricks of clearing your skin? What has worked for you? I would love to know. I hope that this entry gave you a little insight into my routine and maybe some of my tricks will help you too.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

My Fall Makeup Favorites as a Busy College Student

Hey my loves,

fall is my favorite season of the year, I just love everything that comes with it – cozy sweaters, warm tea, changing leaves, cold and crispy days filled with sunshine and of course Halloween. But for most of the time, I’m at college or work so in order to fully live out my fall love I have to try to incorporate it into my makeup routine. And you know what? Fall is perfect for makeup, first of all, it’s not too hot that you sweat it off and also you get away with wearing a dark lip at daytime, which is already a perk in itself.

fall makeup header.jpeg

So today, I will share some of my staples for fall and what I pretty much use on an everyday basis. My makeup usually has to stay on for a long time, everything from 8 to 12 hours sometimes even more, so long-lasting makeup that doesn’t wear off to easily is very important to me. Especially because I’m not big of a touch-your-makeup-kinda-gal, it just does not work for me and my skin type.

Prep & Prime

For my base I like to start with a hydrating moisturizer and on days where my skin feels extra dry I even add one to two drops of face oil. I use the L’Oréal – Hydra Genius Moisturizer for sensitive skin, and, as for my oil, I use The Ordinary – 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil. The primer I use is also from The Ordinary, it’s the High-Adherence Silicone Primer – I love that primer so much, it really makes a HUGE difference in the longevity of my makeup.

Base

I usually like to wear a little foundation and concealer on an everyday basis, because my skin gets quite irritated during the day, so to even out my skin tone I use the L’Oréal Paris – Infaillible Foundation Stick and the L’Oréal Paris – Infaillable 24h Concealer Pomade. I usually blend it in with a damp beauty blender by Real Techniques. I also always spritz my face with one to two pumps of NYX – Dewy Finish Setting Spray. I used to only use it at the end, but using it with the “liquids” in the beginning makes the makeup even more long-lasting. To set my foundation and concealer in place I use the Maybelline – Masterfix Baking + Brightening Powder in Banana all over my face. If you don’t have a yellow undertone in your complexion the translucent powder might be a better choice for you.

Shape, Color & Highlight

As for my bronzer and blush I like to stick to non shimmery based products, because I do really think that matte products last a lot longer. I use the Benefit – Hoola Bronzer and the Maybelline – Dream Matte Blush in Flirty Pink. Most days I skip highlighter, especially on my really long College and work days, simply because I do tend to get a little bit oily and shiny throughout the day, and to avoid being a complete shiny mess I tend to skip highlighter. But for my shorter days I always use the MAC – Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle.

Brows & Eyes

My eyeshadow routine changes everyday. It usually depends on how much time I have in the morning, where I’ll be at and how long I’ll be out. But for basic days I like to use one single eyeshadow all over my eye blended out and also a little bit of it under the eye. For that I am currently using the L’Oréal Paris – Havana Camila Cabello Eyeshadow in Control. But, on days where I feel a little more daring, I like to pop on some color and for that I am currently using the NYX – Ultimate Shadow Palette in Brights. As for my mascara I always use a waterproof one, I love the L’Oréal Paris – Paradise Extactic Mascara. For my brows I usually stick to the L’Oréal Paris – Brow Artist Xpert in Cool Blonde and just fill them in with a light hand.

To set my phase I use the NYX – Dewy Finish Setting Spray, again.

Lips

Now, my lip color changes everyday. But here are my top 3 choices at the moment:

Where I have been + Update

Hey my loves,

long time since I last blogged, I know! I am so sorry for that.

1 nutzen.JPG

I was writing three papers and was preparing for an important oral exam, so I literally did not had the time to do anything else. But I’m all done now and will try to get back to blogging. And I can’t wait to get back, even though I will be quite busy after next week, but I will try my best to upload. There will be some changes though.

I won’t be able to write two or three blog posts a week with good and strong content, even though I wish I had the time, but I rather focus on one good one once a week. I’m going into my last year of college and I have a jam-packed term ahead of me and I started a new job this week, which also keeps me quite busy. But I will try to post on Sundays at 1 pm (CET).

Another change will be that I will be posting more college related blog post, I just feel like you guys really enjoy this content and since I will be done next summer with my bachelor’s degree, I figured, if not now, when?! There will be coming some very interesting entries. But feel free to drop me any suggestions in the comment section as well as on Twitter or Instagram.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Spring to Summer Makeup Look

Hey my loves,

in today’s entry I am going to talk about the makeup look I’ve been wearing for the transition to summer. Where I’m leaving it’s currently a heat wave so we’ve been having temperatures up in the 25 C.

Processed with VSCO with dog2 preset

As per usual I like to keep it minimal for the everyday basis, especially because I’m usually out the entire day at Uni. What’s also important is a very long-lasting makeup and a sweat proof one, because – duh – it’s summer, so it’s usually hot. Haha xD

Here’s the makeup I used to create my look:

7fcae55a-5de9-408a-a3f4-6b108f2e67d8-e1527943705938.jpg

As you can see I’m currently loving a lot of Maybelline products and I think that’s amazing. I personally think they have really upped their game with their new products and I think that for their price they are amazing, long-lasting products.

For my eyes, I used a combination of the three bronzer shades in the Master Bronze Palette in the crease and under-eye. And a little bit of the gold from the palette on my lid.

My lip color varies on my mood and when I took that picture I felt bold so I went with a bright fuchsia color. I love the mattes from NYX, though I wish they were a little bit longer lasting.

What are your go-to makeup products for summer? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

XoXo,
Jasmin.

Beauty Haul

Hey my loves,

a couple of days ago I went into my local drugstore and bought some goodies and I thought I would share them with you. I haven’t treated myself lately with some good skin care and hair products so that’s what I went for.

0A7EF9D9-47EB-48A0-8CC8-4A82F8A64AC0.JPG

I’ve seen it online that the drugstore I went to is now carrying some Koran skin care and I thought I would try something. I went for the “Awakening Under Eye Mask with Ginseng & Eucalyptus”. I already tried them out and I really liked them. They had a cooling effect and felt quite nice, and I did see a difference afterwards. It’s just sad that you only get one use out of them.

Processed with VSCO with e2 preset

The other mask is a sheet mask. The sheet mask has kaolin clay and green tea extract in it. I was really interested to see how a clay sheet mask would work and it worked quite well, the mask hardened and left a little bit of remaining clay on your skin, which was easily to wash off. I really enjoyed this mask and my skin definitely felt tighter and clearer afterwards.

Processed with VSCO with e2 preset

Lately I’ve been really into pastel colored nail polish so I had to buy these two colors. The left one is like an army green one but in matte and the right one is a blue-ish light purple. “Trend it up” really has amazing nail polishes, they last long and look great on the nail, for a drugstore nail polish they are a real steal. If you ever come across I would highly recommend that you try them out.

Processed with VSCO with e2 preset

Now, if you are a YouTube junkie just as I am you may have seen all the US-girls go on an amazing trip for this product release. And ever since they talked about it I waited patiently for it to come out here in Germany. This Garnier Fructis product is a hair mask, they come in, I believe, three different versions. I went for the repairing papaya hair food masks, since my hair is quite damaged due to bleaching it and because of the cold winter months. I haven’t tried this one yet, because I’m finished another mask, but I did smell it and, oh my good, it smells so good. Can’t wait to try it!

This was it all for my haul, it wasn’t a lot, but I still hoped you enjoyed it. Have you tried any Korean beauty products? Let me know in the comments below.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

XoXo, Jasmin.
