never thought this day would come: I’m officially have my Bachelor’s degree. But you got to start planning what’s to come after…
Well, for me it’s two more years of University. Yeah, I know I am crazy, but I really worked hard for this and just want to end my University experience with a Master’s degree. It’s also much more efficient later on for me, so it makes total sense to add two more years. But it has been a struggle to come to this decision.
I was not sure if I wanted to continue studying at all.
I’ve spoken to friends and family and to a Career advisor, but ultimately the decision had to be mine and I had to be sure of it. I have good grades and am eager to learn more, but those are not the only factors that were important to me. I also considered my career plans as well as financial reasons and well I also went with my gut. I was pretty certain that I need some more working experience and I wanted to achieve that with internships, but in the last two years there was simply no time for it, so I figured, well I do it after my bachelor thesis, but that did not make sense to me once I reached that point of registering for my thesis. I wanted to be done after it, whatever that actually meant.
I made a pro and con list and I ultimately decided to continue my studies and add a Master’s degree to my University experience. It was the most logical decision for me, but also an emotional one… Honestly, I am not ready yet to give up my life as a student and all that comes with it. And I learned that it is okay to feel so.
My advice to anyone who is unsure if they want to continue their studies or start a job: Trust your instinct. Trust in yourself. And most importantly talk to friends, family and career advisors. What do you want to achieve? What is your dream job? What do you want to be earning after graduation? All those things and a lot more are important for a decision like this.
I am very happy right now to start my new journey in October and I cannot wait to see what the next two years will bring.
Over a week ago I started my last week as a bachelor student. It’s finally the time to finish this and write my thesis. I can’t believe that I finished all of my exams and only have some courses left. It’s so weird thinking about the last six years especially about how far I’ve come. Honestly, never thought this time would actually come, but here it is.
I have a tough three and a half months ahead of me, but even though I might moan a lot about it, I’m ready for it.
A dream written down with a date becomes a goal.
A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan.
A plan backed by action becomes reality.
I have a to do list that is as long as my arm and I have to make so many decisions in the next few week, which kind of scares me a lot. But change is good sometimes, change sometime needs to happen. And I feel like this is one of those times where I need to move on.
My bachelor thesis is official registered and I have a due date. It is kind of super exciting to finally get into that phase of the work, but it also means I do have to work twice as hard as the last few months.
Are there any blog post regarding writing a bachelor thesis or papers you would like me to write? Let me know in the comments.
long time since I last blogged, I know! I am so sorry for that.
I was writing three papers and was preparing for an important oral exam, so I literally did not had the time to do anything else. But I’m all done now and will try to get back to blogging. And I can’t wait to get back, even though I will be quite busy after next week, but I will try my best to upload. There will be some changes though.
I won’t be able to write two or three blog posts a week with good and strong content, even though I wish I had the time, but I rather focus on one good one once a week. I’m going into my last year of college and I have a jam-packed term ahead of me and I started a new job this week, which also keeps me quite busy. But I will try to post on Sundays at 1 pm (CET).
Another change will be that I will be posting more college related blog post, I just feel like you guys really enjoy this content and since I will be done next summer with my bachelor’s degree, I figured, if not now, when?! There will be coming some very interesting entries. But feel free to drop me any suggestions in the comment section as well as on Twitter or Instagram.
