How I Cleared My Skin

Hey my loves,

Since I can remember I am struggling with skin issues. But this year my skin has become much more radiant, healthier and I also have a lot less acne or active breakouts. Even my acne scars are starting to heal a little bitIf you want to know how I cleared my skin, keep on reading, because I am about to tell you.

skincare use.jpeg

Firstly, I introduced a healthier diet into my life. I made sure to eat less processed food and also cook more with veggies and don’t eat as much of red meat and sugar. This helped with my skin enormously in the way that it cleared my skin off most of the active breakouts, since they usually appeared because of an unhealthy diet.

Then I make sure to take my makeup off EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, even if I don’t want to and am lazy, I do it. If you leave your makeup on overnight your pores will get clogged and with that breakouts are much more likely to happen especially if you have an acne prone skin, like me.

My skincare routine at night consist of the following steps:

  1. Taking my makeup off with L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream.
  2. Then take a makeup wipe to wipe the product off and get rid of any excess makeup. I prefer a makeup wipe, because I would have to use a new cloth every single evening, because I found out that even with cleaning the cloth with hot water and soap it still had some product left and that leads to me having breakouts.
  3. I then go ahead and clean my skin with the L’Oréal Paris – Fine Flowers Gel Cream Wash.
  4. Then I just clean my skin with hot and cold water, always in an upward motion.
  5. To moisturize I use two products:The Ordinary –100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil: about 5 drops.

Another thing I introduced into my everyday life was days without makeup. I used to wear makeup even when I was just running errands, I now don’t do that anymore. Simply to give my skin a little break and to breathe. I also make sure to get at least seven hours of sleep at night, so that my body and skin has enough time to rejoice itself. Last but not least, I doubled my water intake and take b12-vitamins.

What are some of your tips and tricks of clearing your skin? What has worked for you? I would love to know. I hope that this entry gave you a little insight into my routine and maybe some of my tricks will help you too.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

My Personal Development Story

Hey my loves,

Last week I talked about my final year of College and mentioned my personal development story. I thought I would touch on that a little more and tell you what I mean with that.

This year has been a year of change for me. I do not even know where I should start, but I guess I start with the beginning.

SAMSUNG CSC

I always said that I felt comfortable in my skin and while to a certain degree that was true it changed in the last three years. I was getting to a point where life just seemed to throw bigger and bigger rocks at me. And last year towards the end of it, I decided that it is enough.

I didn’t want to live in a world where I felt displaced and out of order yet alone not in control and I started to look what I can change and I found myself at a mountain of possibilities. So instead of changing my surroundings or dive into something that I would not have been able to do, I decided in order to better my life: I HAVE TO BETTER MYSELF FIRST.

So I did, am still doing.

I decided that I would start with seeing everything as a challenge that I can do, instead of letting myself be muffled by anxious feelings. It was hard at first and to some degree still is, so I would say it’s a work in progress. Everything that was thrown at me I started to handle with these thoughts in my mind:

Will it affect my life in two years?

If it does not matter in two years, why make a big scene? Just accept that something is going wrong or not going the way you imagined it to be. Learn that not everything is in your control.

Will it matter next week? Next month? Next year?

This is basically the same thing as I said before, but in a short period of time. Is it just bad right now? Or will it be bad for a longer time? What can I change? How should I deal with it?

What can I do to make the situation more comfortable for me?

Obviously this won’t make everything go away, but I have found that talking about why I am uncomfortable or that I do not wish to do a certain things is more likely to be accepted by my friends/family than I ever thought. Just be honest to yourself and to the people in your life. They won’t judge you for what you’re feeling, even if they don’t understand it.

What can I change about it that I can do right now?

Is there a way that I can change the situation and if so what do I have to do to make a change? Should I maybe start with myself? Or does the problem lie somewhere else?

While early on in my life I would have had a freak-out or a desperate crying session I now surround myself with tools to handle these types of situations. Sometimes a big old breathing in session is all you need, trust me. Just give yourself a couple of seconds to think about it, to let it sink in. It might not seem as bad a couple of minutes later.

Another thing I changed in myself is my body.

And that started with my mind. While I’ve always been comfortable in my skin, I always felt like an outsider simply because of my weight. But here’s the thing, if you don’t care about it, it’s more likely that everybody else won’t care about it either. What I mean with that is, I let myself be strung back by my weight, I pushed myself down and had thoughts like “Well they wouldn’t like me anyway!” or “Nobody that looks like me would do that”.
So I changed my mindset, I told myself:

Your weight does not define the person you are. You do.

Your weight is not holding you back. You are.

And I tried to figure out what I can do to change my thinking. And for me it was pretty clear that in order to change my thinking I have to lose some weight, because, truth be told, I did not feel comfortable in my skin anymore. In order to lose the weight, in a healthy and continuous way, I had to change my lifestyle. I want to be as healthy as I can. I have not set myself a goal weight, because I believe that the number on the scale should not define the way you feel. I don’t count calories or follow a diet or at least no longer. But that is a story for another time. Instead, I am going to the gym and portion control my food and I chose healthier options.

My body has changed, my mind has changed.

I’ve lost over 20 pounds so far. I am proud of my achievement, but what I am more proud of is that I managed to stay on track, that even though some day might not be a good and healthy day, that as long as I am active and live 80 percent of my time healthy that it was okay. I am a happier, more confident and a more positive person: and I did that.

I got a job beside my studies, I can barely sit still and I do much more with my friends than before. I pulled myself out of hole and plastered it up. And I am still working on it, on me. I have so many more things I want to do to change my life around, but I will do it one step at a time. For now, what I am doing is working and in a year’s time, who knows where I’ll be at.

I hope I could give you somewhat of a good insight into my personal development story. If you have any question, feel free to ask them in the comments or DM me on Instagram or Twitter. You’re also more than welcome to shoot me an Email if you prefer that.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

My Fall Makeup Favorites as a Busy College Student

Hey my loves,

fall is my favorite season of the year, I just love everything that comes with it – cozy sweaters, warm tea, changing leaves, cold and crispy days filled with sunshine and of course Halloween. But for most of the time, I’m at college or work so in order to fully live out my fall love I have to try to incorporate it into my makeup routine. And you know what? Fall is perfect for makeup, first of all, it’s not too hot that you sweat it off and also you get away with wearing a dark lip at daytime, which is already a perk in itself.

fall makeup header.jpeg

So today, I will share some of my staples for fall and what I pretty much use on an everyday basis. My makeup usually has to stay on for a long time, everything from 8 to 12 hours sometimes even more, so long-lasting makeup that doesn’t wear off to easily is very important to me. Especially because I’m not big of a touch-your-makeup-kinda-gal, it just does not work for me and my skin type.

Prep & Prime

For my base I like to start with a hydrating moisturizer and on days where my skin feels extra dry I even add one to two drops of face oil. I use the L’Oréal – Hydra Genius Moisturizer for sensitive skin, and, as for my oil, I use The Ordinary – 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil. The primer I use is also from The Ordinary, it’s the High-Adherence Silicone Primer – I love that primer so much, it really makes a HUGE difference in the longevity of my makeup.

Base

I usually like to wear a little foundation and concealer on an everyday basis, because my skin gets quite irritated during the day, so to even out my skin tone I use the L’Oréal Paris – Infaillible Foundation Stick and the L’Oréal Paris – Infaillable 24h Concealer Pomade. I usually blend it in with a damp beauty blender by Real Techniques. I also always spritz my face with one to two pumps of NYX – Dewy Finish Setting Spray. I used to only use it at the end, but using it with the “liquids” in the beginning makes the makeup even more long-lasting. To set my foundation and concealer in place I use the Maybelline – Masterfix Baking + Brightening Powder in Banana all over my face. If you don’t have a yellow undertone in your complexion the translucent powder might be a better choice for you.

Shape, Color & Highlight

As for my bronzer and blush I like to stick to non shimmery based products, because I do really think that matte products last a lot longer. I use the Benefit – Hoola Bronzer and the Maybelline – Dream Matte Blush in Flirty Pink. Most days I skip highlighter, especially on my really long College and work days, simply because I do tend to get a little bit oily and shiny throughout the day, and to avoid being a complete shiny mess I tend to skip highlighter. But for my shorter days I always use the MAC – Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle.

Brows & Eyes

My eyeshadow routine changes everyday. It usually depends on how much time I have in the morning, where I’ll be at and how long I’ll be out. But for basic days I like to use one single eyeshadow all over my eye blended out and also a little bit of it under the eye. For that I am currently using the L’Oréal Paris – Havana Camila Cabello Eyeshadow in Control. But, on days where I feel a little more daring, I like to pop on some color and for that I am currently using the NYX – Ultimate Shadow Palette in Brights. As for my mascara I always use a waterproof one, I love the L’Oréal Paris – Paradise Extactic Mascara. For my brows I usually stick to the L’Oréal Paris – Brow Artist Xpert in Cool Blonde and just fill them in with a light hand.

To set my phase I use the NYX – Dewy Finish Setting Spray, again.

Lips

Now, my lip color changes everyday. But here are my top 3 choices at the moment:

Self-Care is Self-Love

Hey my loves,

two weeks ago I mentioned in my holiday blog post how important me-time and self-care is for me. So I thought it would only be natural to write about my experience and my journey with you, as well as share some tips with you.

Self-care means giving yourself permission to pause.

self care.jpeg

Self-care is so important, if you do not take care of yourself you are less likely to be able to take care of others or live your life to the fullest of its possibilities. 2018 has been a year of change for me in so many ways, but especially taking time for myself and realizing that it is important and totally okay to be a little selfish when it comes to your own mental and body health. Self-care helped me to become a much happier and a more positive person, it helped me change my life into a healthy lifestyle.

Self-care is self-love.

If you don’t take care of your mind, your body, how are you suppose to take care of others?

I started with just simply taking care of my skin. I make sure that if I wore makeup that day that I take it off at night, no matter how tired I am. It made a huge difference. After that I incorporated two steps into my evening routine, to let myself feel better about my skin and also make sure to keep the wrinkles away for as long as possible. If you want me to go into detail into my new and updated evening skin care, let me know in the comments and I will. I also do exfoliating and mask session and listen to some soothing music or if I feel like it have a dancing session on my own. Whatever makes you feel calm and happy is the best way for yourself. My tricks might not work for you!

After skin care I started to make sure to clean up after myself more often. Like, pick up my clothes or even doing the dishes more frequently. Trust me, I am not the biggest fan of doing any of these chores, but it will make a difference. And if I get a little messy or don’t do the dishes for two days or three, you know what, that’s okay too. As long as you feel at home and it’s not gross, it’s okay. That’s one thing I learned, too – you don’t have to be perfect in any way.

I am enough. Who I am is enough.
What I do is enough, and what I have is enough.

Another thing I learned is to take things not to personal, everybody is going through their own thing, sometimes their mood or what they say does not have anything to do with you. I learned to choose happiness and not just wait around for it to happen. What I mean with that is: I choose to see the positive, I choose to see the value behind what happened, bad or good. I choose to accept that life is NOT a smooth ride, that I will have bad days, that I won’t stay on my diet every single day. I accepted that life doesn’t need to be perfect and that bad things happen, usually for a reason. And that whatever I or anybody else goes through is part of life.

We can choose how we deal with it, how it affects us, what we make of it. We are the captain of our own lives, we lead the direction it is going in.

I also made the decision to completely change my lifestyle. I eat healthier, I exercise regularly, I make time for my friends and my family and I enjoy the work for college. I choose to see every task, every to-do as a journey, as an experience that further develops me and shapes me to a better person. I choose to stress myself, and I choose to take myself out of situations that are too much for me. But what I will do is, try! So many things this year a new for me in my life, these kind of things used to stress me out, but it doesn’t anymore, because I see it as a challenge that further brightens my future.

I know that all that might not seem as a self-care guideline to you, but this is what has worked for me. Like I said what works for me, might not work for you.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Quick and Effortless Summer Makeup

Hey my loves,

today I am sharing with you my go-to make up for those super hot summer days. All you need is about five to seven products.

summer makeup easy_2.jpg

When it is super hot outside I like to stick to a super simple and easy makeup. I make sure to even out my skin tone. I use a concealer for that.

But before concealer I use primer.

I’ve been using the Maybelline – Superstay Primer. It makes my makeup last all day and even though I will only be using concealer I like to have a base for it.

I basically spot conceal and get rid of my dark circles. Currently I have been using the Maybelline – Instant Age Rewind Concealer. I use my finger to apply the concealer onto the spots and my under-eye.

To set my under-eye concealer I use a brightening powder.

Currently I have been trying out the Maybelline – Baking + Brightening Loose Powder. I only use it under my eyes and on my t-zone. On most days I don’t have to set the rest of the concealer, I only sweat in my t-zone and have creasing under my eyes.

I either apply blush or bronzer.

On hot days I don’t like to have too many powders on my face and because I haven’t found great drugstore liquid blushes or bronzer I usually stick to one of the powder versions. I either use my Too Faced – Sweethearts Blush in Something About Berry or a mix of the three bronzer shades in my Maybelline – Bronzer Palette.

Highlight is a must.

In summer I can’t live without highlighter. I’m currently using the MAC – Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. I apply on the tops of my cheek bones, the tip of my nose, the inner corner of my eye, my brow bone and on my cupids bow.

Waterproof Mascara is a life saver.

I always use waterproof mascara, but I especially wear it in summer. Sweat will tear off any other mascara and I will look like a panda. I’m using the Maybelline – Perfect Mascara.

Set and set again.

Last but not least, setting my makeup is one of the biggest MUST’s. I have to set my makeup or I will end up with nothing on my face in under an hour. I use the Maybelline – Super Stay Setting Spray. It works wonders for me.

Light dab of color for the lips.

Now lastly, I apply lipstick. I usually just dab whatever color I want for the day on my lips and that’s it. Currently I have been using the Gerard Cosmetics – Lipstick in Berry Smoothie or NYX – Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo.

Spring to Summer Makeup Look

Hey my loves,

in today’s entry I am going to talk about the makeup look I’ve been wearing for the transition to summer. Where I’m leaving it’s currently a heat wave so we’ve been having temperatures up in the 25 C.

Processed with VSCO with dog2 preset

As per usual I like to keep it minimal for the everyday basis, especially because I’m usually out the entire day at Uni. What’s also important is a very long-lasting makeup and a sweat proof one, because – duh – it’s summer, so it’s usually hot. Haha xD

Here’s the makeup I used to create my look:

7fcae55a-5de9-408a-a3f4-6b108f2e67d8-e1527943705938.jpg

As you can see I’m currently loving a lot of Maybelline products and I think that’s amazing. I personally think they have really upped their game with their new products and I think that for their price they are amazing, long-lasting products.

For my eyes, I used a combination of the three bronzer shades in the Master Bronze Palette in the crease and under-eye. And a little bit of the gold from the palette on my lid.

My lip color varies on my mood and when I took that picture I felt bold so I went with a bright fuchsia color. I love the mattes from NYX, though I wish they were a little bit longer lasting.

What are your go-to makeup products for summer? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

XoXo,
Jasmin.
