Packing Advice

Hey my loves,

in today’s blog post I am going to talk about how I pack and what I like to bring with me during vacation time. I just got back yesterday, and as soon as I have a chance, I will write-up a blog post what I’ve been up to on my holiday, but for now let’s get into this entry here.

Make a list

I always write down everything that I want to bring with me. That starts with my makeup and goes all the way to electronics. I just like to make sure that I don’t forget anything important and also that I have an overview when I pack when I get home. So I always know what I brought with me. The only list that is quite open is clothes, I tend to only write down like special things – for example: underwear, pj’s, socks etc. For the main outfits I usually know what I brought.

Plan your outfits ahead

Now, if you know where you’re going and have somewhat of a plan what you are going to do there you can always plan your outfits ahead. I always like to check my weather app to see how the weather is going to be and make sure, that for example, if I were going to a beach vacation, that I will bring at least one pair of long pants and a sweatshirt of some sort, for the possibility that the weather changes. But for the most part I just look at the weather and my activity list and plan out the outfits accordingly. I also make sure that I can combine items of the looks with other ones, so if anything comes up that I didn’t plan for I still have an outfit choice for it.

Use dead space

If you bring more than the shoes you’re wearing, use the space in the shoes for socks, cables and your jewelry. It not only saves you space but also keeps your jewelry safe. And smaller items that fit are perfect to put into your shoes. And if you don’t bring more shoes, than stuff your socks with jewelry and smaller items and place them in-between your clothes.

Roll your clothes or use packing cubes

I for myself just roll my clothes and that works perfect for me. You tend to be able to pack way more and also a big bonus – your clothes are less likely to get wrinkly, which is always favorable.

Don’t overpack

I’m not only talking about clothes, shoes or makeup, but also don’t overpack on entertainment things. For instance, if you’re planning on bring books with you make sure that you even have the time to read them. For a vacation that is only for a week you probably won’t read more than one. Or opt for audio books. Make sure that what you bring is going to be used and if you feel like: ‘Maybe, we’ll use it.’ – don’t bring it, because chances are that you won’t even use it and then it would just have taken away space for the necessary things.

What are some rules you go by when you pack for a holiday? I would love to know, so tell me in the comments.

I wish you all a wonderful day!

XoXo, Jasmin.
